John has worked with a Midwest veneer manufacturer for years to insure that all of the wood used in Strauss' pieces are of the highest quality and have the most interesting grain characteristics. Real wood veneer is a fine product that has been used in high-end furniture for ages. 21st Century glues and pressing methods are the main improvements on this time-honored tradition that was also used extensively during the Louis XVth period.
Another aspect of utilizing veneer is its "sustainable" nature: many different pieces of furniture can be created from one tree, saving forests. When man-made substrates are used with veneer to insure the stability of the product, these panels are made from SCS and EPP certified 100% recovered and recycled wood fiber content. This material is also SCS and EPP certified to not contain any added formaldehyde and meets approvals for LEED buildings. Attention to our environment is an important part of what John Strauss Furniture does.
